Watch artists at work when 18 artists in the Bellevue Artists Alliance open their studios to the public this weekend.

The artists will kick off their 2018 Open Studios with a reception featuring wine and hors d’oeuvres from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight--Friday, Oct. 19--at Silver Creek Hotel in Bellevue. They will open their studios from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20-21.

The studios sport a wide array of art styles from Jack Sept’s leather work and saddle making studio to EJ Harpham’s multi-room mud studio where she creates wall tiles and fine art ceramics.

David Rau, long known for paintings of horses and fish, became intrigued with the personality individual ewes possesses as he painted several ewes for last week’s Trailing of the Sheep Festival.

Tom Clark will show off his fiber hats and scarves at “The Barn” on Muldoon Canyon Road.  Mark Sheehan will show the array of century-old metal crafting machines he uses to mold sculptures out of metal. And Tammy Davis will show how she fashions jewelry.

The tour includes photographers Michael Edminster, Anne Jeffery, Kathi Wagner and Kirsten Shultz. And it includes painters Lee Higman, Kitty Marcroft, Annie May, Laio Michels, Judy Pittman, Brent Rasmussen, David Rau, Marie Stewart and Pamela Street.

There will be a raffle for a variety of prizes, including one of EJ Harpham’s ceramics, wearable art and gift certificates from Bellevue merchants. Works will also be on view at 7Fuego Restaurant and Silver Creek Hotel during the weekend.

Tour maps are available at the Silver Creek Hotel, 7Fuego Restaurant, Mahoney’s Bar and Grill and the Sun Valley Garden Center. They can also be downloaded at www.bellevueartistalliance.com.

Marie Stewart creates paintings of geometric designs, as well as wearable art ranging from ski helmets to clothes.
