Warren Miller Entertainment will go beyond the alpine slopes to the Nordic trails in its 69th film—“Face of Winter.”

Sun Valley’s Simi Hamilton and Kevin Bolger, Olympic Gold Medalist Jessie Diggins, Sophie Caldwell  and others take to New Zealand, training in slow mo so they can continue to go fast after a record-breaking 2018 Winter Olympic team gold medal.

Footage of the Nordic racers will be paired with images of the ski culture throughout the decades in a homage to Warren Miller, the iconic filmmaker who got his start in the Sun Valley Resort parking lot.

Warren Miller’s “Face of Winter” will kick off the 2018-19 winter season when it screens tonight and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27, at the Sun Valley Opera House.

The movie starts at 7 p.m. tonight and at 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday. Advance tickets cost $16 and are available online at www.sunvalley.com or at the Sun Valley Guest Information Center in Sun Valley Village. Tickets purchased at the door are $18.

Film attendees will have the opportunity to win lift tickets, ski tunes from Pete Lane’s and products from sponsors and vendors at the show.

The latest film movie takes viewers to Chamonix, France, Portillo in the Chilean Andes and Denali National Park. There’s footage of Warren Miller who passed away in January 2018. There’s even a little something in there for ice climbing enthusiasts.

“This film is for anyone whose life, whether they realize it or not, was impacted by Warren Miller,” said Warren Miller Entertainment Managing Director Andy Hawk. “We are all the face of winter—from the athletes to the audience to the locals in far-off destinations or even our home mountain . Warren recognized this, and this year’s film celebrates that.”

COMING ATTRACTIONS
