What’s the most beautifully designed bar in Idaho?

No offense to the storied Duchin Room at Sun Valley Resort but “Architectural Digest” says it’s Hotel Ketchum’s new Hangout.

“Carved into this Sun Valley boutique hotel is the perfect après-ski spot with nature-inspired wallpaper (check out those ‘shrooms and deer) plus furnishings born out of tree stumps or cowhide,” said the magazine.

The magazine made its comments in its just-published article “The Most Beautifully Designed Bar in Each State in America.”

“What any bar owner will tell you is that it’s not hard to make a drink. Rather, what’s difficult is cultivating an environment that embraces eye-catching design,” wrote Kristine Hansen. “When this design is done well, it sets the bar into an echelon of its own, bringing in locals and design lovers alike.”

Other bars receiving praise included the Aurora Ice Bar in Fairbanks, Alaska, where even the martini glasses are carved out of ice and the stools covered in caribou fur.

And The Hive at 21C Museum Hotel in Bentonville, Ark., where guests sit under an installation emulating bees and honeycombs while sipping Hive N’ Dime.
