Nancy Liston’s fine art with its Sun Valley themes will be featured in a trunk show on Saturday and Sunday.
Thursday, December 13, 2018

Seattle Ridge will open on Saturday, along with the refurbished Warm Springs Lodge.

And Sun Valley Resort will offer tours of its newly remodeled Sun Valley Inn on Saturday after the Christmas Tree Lighting.

Cold temperatures allowed Sun Valley Resort to make a ton of snow on Gretchen’s Gold, Muffy’s Medals, Christin’s Silver, Janet Leigh Lane, Mid and Lower Broadway and Gun Tower Lane this week.

The Open-Air Market introduces a flavor of Europe’s Christmas markets to Sun Valley.

And a few inches from heaven Wednesday morning didn’t hurt, as Sun Valley workers prepared to open that part of Baldy, along with Seattle Ridge Day Lodge.

The Seattle Ridge High Speed Quad will be in operation, along with the Cold Springs Chair. The oldest chair on the mountain, the Cold Springs Chair is marking its last season at Sun Valley before a new high-speed quad takes its place.

Wednesday's snow also allowed Sun Valley Nordic to open its Trail Creek Loop.

Meanwhile, Sun Valley Resort will unveil the new Sun Valley Inn archway during Saturday’s Tree Lighting Ceremony in Sun Valley Village.

The ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with free cocoa and cookies and caroling and bell ringing by the Sun Valley Carolers. And, after the tree lighting at 6 p.m., guests are invited to retreat inside to see the recently renovated Sun Valley Inn during a public open house from 6 to 7 p.m.

Attendees may enter a drawing for a chance to win a free night at the remodeled Inn.

“The tunnel brings back the spirit of what Sun Valley was as a pedestrian village when it opened in 1937,” said Mike Fitzpatrick, director of communications. “People missed it, and we realized it was an integral part of what the village is all about. After it’s reopened, it will provide great access to such facilities as the hot pool. And it will also provide access to a landscaped park we will create on the site of the old Moritz Hospital after we tear that down in spring.
