The 17th annual Share Your Heart Ball will celebrate “life beyond a diagnosis and beyond a week of camp” when it takes place on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Limelight Ballroom at Sun Valley Resort.

The evening, being billed as “a night beyond the ordinary” celebrating 17 years of “sharing your heart,” benefits Camp Rainbow Gold, a summer camp for children with cancer.

The event, which starts at 5 p.m., includes a cocktail hour with a chance to take part in such camp games as archery, bull roping and putt-putt golf, while bidding on vacation packages, spa retreats, date nights and other silent auction items.

Dinner and a live auction will have guests vying for trips to Sweden, Paris, a meet-and-greet VIP concert with Justin Timberlake and more.

There’ll be dancing. And one of the families that benefits from the camp will offer a brief testimony about the power of camp.

“It’s going to be a fun celebration for campers and their families and donors,” said KC Covert, marketing manager for Camp Rainbow Gold.

Proceeds from the ball will help keep programs free for children and their families.

Money raised at the grand gala has enabled Camp Rainbow Gold to grow from a week of camp to year-round programs. It now includes five camps, teen support groups, and college scholarships for children who have fought cancer.

The camp, started in the mid-1980s, currently meets at the old Baptist camp at Cathedral Pines north of Ketchum. It has grown to include oncology camps, sibling camps and family retreats

But staff and board have purchased Soldier Mountain Ranch and Resort, conditional to the findings of a 90day due diligence or the property.

The $1.3-million purchase includes 26 buildings, including 21 cabins, on 150 acres at the base of the Soldier Mountains near Fairfield.

Camp staff had hoped to build a new camp in the Wood River Valley but were turned down by the Blaine County Commissioners in a bid to buy property in East Fork south of Ketchum.

A non-profit organization, the camp serves more than 400 Idahoans and is supported by more than 300 volunteers.

Tickets for Share Your Heart Ball are $175 per person. For more information, visit www.camprainbowgold.org or call 208-928-7820.
