The Wood River Orchestra will perform its annual spring concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater at the Community Campus in Hailey.

The “Mozart & Mendelssohn” concert is free to the public, and donations are always welcome.

The concert program features Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5, also known as the “Reformation” symphony, as well as a performance of Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro Overture.”

“It's been some time since the Wood River Orchestra has performed a big symphonic work like ‘Reformation,’ ” said Brad Hershey, conductor and musical director of the orchestra. “This piece is substantial and really has something for everyone.”

Now in its 12th season, the Wood River Orchestra was founded in 2007 to enrich the lives of area residents by providing opportunities to perform and enjoy orchestral music. The orchestra is composed of more than 30 musicians of all ages and abilities, and new members are always welcome.

The orchestra performs three main concerts each year and plays at community events across the Wood River Valley. The group’s performances are free to the public, and charitable donations are always appreciated.
