The east entrance is undergoing a remodel.

Constitutional Scholar David Adler couldn’t help but crack a joke at the Community Library’s expense as he got behind the lectern to speak on presidential politics Thursday night.

“Thank you for joining me,” he said. “It’s especially nice to see you because, judging from the nature of construction going on, I know no one gets here by accident.”

Indeed, the Community Library, which has been in the throes of a major refurbishment for two years, has shifted again.

It’s shifted its Main Entrance from east side to the west side through June to allow for the east side of the library to undergo renovation.

The main entrance on Spruce Street has been closed and the Children’s Library entry will serve as the main entrance during this time.

So, once again the library’s 125,000 annual visitors are readjusting their steps as they look for old favorites in new spaces.

The two-year renovation project is expected to wrap up in October, after which there will be a grand reopening celebration, said Executive Director Jenny Emery Davidson.
