Celebrate Earth Day at the Earth Day Seed & Plant Exchange.

Members of the Wood River Seed Library, who save their own seeds, are inviting the public to come partake of their seeds and perennials that have outgrown their space.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 13, at the Grange Hall, 609 S. 3rd Avenue in Hailey. A second seed and plant exchange will be held on Saturday, May 25, featuring seeds and plant starts focusing on warm season gardening.

Local gardeners are invited to bring their own saved seeds, potted plants and starts and dug-up perennials to share with the community, as well.

It’s an opportunity to meet other local gardeners, get inspired to grow delicious nutritious food and learn about flowers that attract pollinators, as well as beautifying the landscape, said Manon Gaudreau.

The cool season vegetable garden has started, said Gaudreau. Now is the time to make indoor or greenhouse starts, preparing rowing beds, raised beds and pots so they can receive transplants or seeds. Peas can be seeded outdoors any time now between the New and Full moons.

Locally produced seeds are adapted to our local environment and weather. They become an asset for a resilient community.

WRSL currently share its collections of seeds through the Hailey Public Library, as well.
