The Environmental Resource Center will close out its 2019 Spring Science Series on Wednesday with a visit from representatives and inhabitants of Zoo Idaho.

Rachael Shearouse, Zoo Idaho’s curator of education, will introduce the audience to some of Zoo Idaho’s animal ambassadors during a free presentation at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at The Community Library in Ketchum.

The ambassadors include a black-footed ferret, box turtle and gopher snake.

Zoo Idaho, which sits on 25 acres in Pocatello, is home to nearly 150 animals. Founded in 1932, it is home to animals of the Intermountain West who were orphaned or injured and would have died in the wild.

The Spring Science Series brings presenters from across Idaho to talk about conservation issues in second and third grade classrooms.

WORLD MIGRATORY DAY AROUND THE CORNER

Join local birder Poo Wright-Pulliam for a one-hour presentation at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the ERC office at 471 Washington Ave. in Ketchum. It will be followed by a field session to watch and count birds. Pulliam will also offer a listening exercise.

World Migratory bird day is an annual awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats.

There is a suggested donation of $10 for ERC members and $20 for nonmembers. Sign up at 208-726-4333 or by emailing alisa@ercsv.org.
