Hailey Library Debuts ‘The Library of Things’
Kamigami Robots are all the rage right now.
Saturday, August 10, 2019

The Hailey Public Library has expanded its collection.

But the newest additions to the library are not books. These new items available for checkout include a kid’s fishing pole, tennis balls and rackets, a tool box and a water cooler for your drinks.

The Library of Things was part of an initiative to give patrons a more versatile selection of items available for checkout. It was inspired by other Idaho libraries that offer a similar set up.

“The Library of Things will give people the opportunity to discover a passion,” said Josh Crotty, the library’s teen and tech services coordinator. “It’s a way for someone to get involved in something they’ve always wanted to try without having to invest money in it.”

Other exciting “things” for checkout include:

  • A Code Kit, permitting students to build games with their own codes while learning to program
  • A Kamigami Robot, which individuals can program and play with
  • A urpower, a travel steamer for clothing
  • Bloxels, a videogame building kit.
