Learn the fundamentals of Feng Shui for garden design. Then take your turn stacking rocks with Ketchum’s stone balance artist Gabriel Embler.

It’s all part of a busy weekend at Sawtooth Botanical Garden that also includes a class on “Great Landscape Evergreens.”

  • Tony McCammon, who has long worked with Master Gardener and other programs in the Magic Valley, will present “Great Landscape Evergreens” from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the garden.

He will examine how best to use evergreens for privacy and how we need to add more diversity to our plant palette in the face of increased pest problems and other environmental factors affecting Colorado Spruce and White pine.

He will also discuss the best screening trees and shrubs for high elevations such as the Wood River Valley, how to plant and take care of trees and how to create effective screening.

Cost is $40 in advance at https://bloomhorticulture.com/event/great-landscape-evergreens/ or $50 at the door.

  • Hillary Anderson, Ketchum’s premier Feng Shui master, will discuss conscious garden design for creating healthy, vibrant lives filled with love, prosperity, creativity and knowledge from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 28. She will use areas of the Sawtooth Botanical Garden as examples and she will address satellite photos or drawings of participants’ homes and garden. Admission is a sliding scale donation.
  • Gabe Embler will discuss “The Art & Philosophy of Stone Balance from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. He will discuss the life lessons he’s learned from his meditative art form, the way it quiets mind and body and the undeniable reality of impermanence. Play with rocks, he says: “You might be amazed what they can teach you.” Cost is $40.
