What does Sun Valley offer that allows startup companies to dream big? What are some of the benefits—and challenges—of being based here?

The Sun Valley Center for the Arts will host a free panel discussion titled “From Rural to Global in Sun Valley” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at The Center in Ketchum.

The discussion will explore the community’s knack for starting new businesses that often thrive not only locally but on a global scale.

Ketchum Innovation Center Director Christy Anna Gerber will serve as moderator. Joining her will be panelists Jake Peters, general manager of DECKED truck bed storage systems, and Megan Murphy Lengyel, founder of SQN Sport, a clothing business.

The conversation is inspired by The Center’s current BIG IDEA project “Marketplaces: From Open Air to Online.”

“It examines the various ways our buying and selling of goods have changed over time,” said Katelyn Foley, director of education and humanities at The Center.
